Control Letters
Limited Font,
February 2021

Role:
Designer
The Goal:
Design the first 15 letters of a typeface based on tool technique.
The Solution:
Beginning with H, O, D, n, o, and a, Maddie experimented with several tools using different style strokes. She landed on an upright sans serif style using a flat brush and ink. Refining her letters, she made them more geometric.
Challenges Faced:
Challenges arose in the beginning of the process trying to make a decision on a visual direction to go in that would be visually pleasing, but also relatively simple to practice working in Glyphs and constructing letters from others.
Deliverables:
15 letters, digitized and exported as a working font.
This project has been one of Maddie’s favorites because it informed her of a potential career path that she may enjoy.
